"Awesome dog trainer! If you are looking for a dog trainer that is effective, compassionate, and professional, this is the spot."
Board & Train
3-6 Weeks ($2,499-$4,995)
Training your dog takes a lot of time and repetition-- we’re here to put in the work to get you there! This program allows us to do the heavy lifting for you, then bring you back into the picture as your dog’s behaviors become more rehearsed and reliable. Your dog stays with our staff Monday-Friday for the agreed upon number of weeks (usually 3-6). While with our staff, your dog will receive at least 3 training sessions daily, tailored to work towards your training goals. Dogs will return home with their owners on Fridays after a short in person lesson, returning on Monday for the next week. Weekends at home will allow us to identify any shortcomings in our training plans and tailor what we’re doing along the way!

Board & Train programs may be a good choice for owners who need help with behavioral issues, or if your busy life is just making it hard to find time to give your new dog the head-start you’d like it to have.

Basic training gear is included in the price (training tool, long line, training pouch), if your program includes e-collar or if a muzzle is necessary, cost for those tools will be in addition to the stated price of the service.

After struggling to find the right daycare for our dog, Crash, we contacted Maple Leaf K9 in October for training. Their prompt response led to a consultation with Ross, who presented various options. We chose the Board and Train Program, initially hesitant about the week-long separation. However, Ross thoroughly explained the process, and we felt supported throughout the 4-week program. Weekly updates and take-home lessons kept us involved, and Ross was always available. We highly recommend Ross and the Board and Train program. We're grateful that Ross and Lyra continue to welcome Crash weekly and support us.
We can’t recommend Maple Leaf K9 enough!

Private Lessons
5 Private Lessons ($799)
Private lessons allow us to meet weekly and work together towards your training goals. New clients start with a package of 5 lessons; single sessions can be purchased after completion of a package/program ($115/per). Sessions generally last 1-1.5 hours. Clients in the greater Burlington area may choose to conduct lessons in-home when appropriate, generally after initial lessons occur in our facility. Owners and dogs will work through basic on-leash obedience and target additional behaviors of their choosing. We will work to implement strategies to help improve your dog’s behavior across the board.

This program is not appropriate for more severe behavioral cases.

We signed up for 5 training sessions with Ross for our energetic 2 year old blue heeler mix, and it truly was a great decision to work with him. We really needed help with our dog’s leash training & leash anxiety/aggression to help him with his social skills as well as his ability to consistently follow commands well.
It was clear from day one that Ross is a very gifted, knowledgeable, kind, and dedicated trainer who really understands dogs & how to best work with them. His training philosophy is both clear and organized so that we as owners can feel successful in implementing simple, effective, and fun training protocols at home. Additionally, Ross really tailored each session to visibly meet our expressed needs every time. Through these 5 weeks, we’ve made and seen huge progress in our dog’s behaviors and training both at home & in less predictable environments, and Ross has clearly expressed that we can always send any training questions or challenges his way. We are so grateful for our continuing relationship with Maple Leaf K9!

Group Classes
Manners & Obedience I (8 weeks, $299)
Our entry level Manners & Obedience class was constructed with the idea that a firm grasp of the basic principles of dog training is necessary to fit the concepts you learn to your lifestyle. With this in mind, we put an emphasis on engagement between the dog and handler in order to build foundational skills that, with repetition, can lead to a lifetime of harmony and happiness with your canine companion.
This class lasts 8 weeks, including an in-person lecture week 1 (no dogs). We will cover basic skills including leash walking, sit & down, place, on-leash recall and when there’s extra time, we’ll add some additional tricks to the lessons. Owners are able to take a test at the end of the class to qualify for Manners & Obedience II and other secondary classes.

Dogs must be 7 months of age or older to enroll.
Group classes are not appropriate for reactive dogs. If you are experiencing reactivity or aggression with your dog, check out our Board & Train and Private Training programs.

Engagement Skills (4 weeks, $199)
Our Engagement Skills class is all about helping clients build stronger engagement with their dog. Having a well behaved dog is much easier to attain when the handler has strong value in the dog’s eyes. In this class we will cover how we can use markers to improve the clarity of communication, use movement to create reward events and build behaviors our dogs find rewarding to complete.

We’ve trusted Ross with our 7-year-old dog, Zeezie, since she was 9 months old, and his training has been transformative. As a mix of Border Collie and Greek Shepherd, Zeezie’s energy and intelligence require thoughtful engagement, and Ross’s patience and expertise have made a huge difference.
